.......because he "transgresses against the rule of the game"................
He says "I swear to be punished if I ever share anything exclusive to you with any other lady". Though he thinks the end result is meant for their good (to secure a stay abroad & bring her over),  yet he's now being punished as if he betrays. 
The devil is very sensitive.  "SATAN ACTS MORE & SWIFTLY ON OUR WORDS THAN ON OUR INTENTIONS". Just as he always wants to kill us in sin before we repent,  same way he uses our words against our destiny before we realize the magnitude of our error,  even  years after years. 
Sometimes, in order to prove our sincerity we make dangerous approaches (swear,  make oath, go into covenants,  etc). Sooner  we then realize that the conditions we attach are too costly or  they are even too difficult to keep.
Whatever,  consequences impatiently Waits on the side of the road.
That's why I will say,  "don't do SEEMINGLY GOOD THINGS IN A WRONG WAY ,  WRONG PLACE, OR AT THE WRONG TIME .
